Shanghai’s most famous commercial street is a shopping mecca. Westgate Mall, CITIC Square, Plaza 66, Shanghai Center, and Jiuguang Department Store can all be found here. Other landmark areas, including People’s Square and Jing’an temple, are located nearby.

Formerly known as Zhabei district, this area was merged with Jing’an District in 2015. It’s now considered to be an up-and-coming section of the district. Its highlights include the Shanghai circus, the Shanghai railway station, Shanghai University, and a number of well-known hotels, including the Intercontinental hotel.

This area is home to both the 889 mall and the 88 Kings mall. It has been making headline news for Alipay’s new “cashless” food market, which has a notably wide-range of seafood options. A large flower market also used to be located here, but unfortunately it was recently closed in December 2017.

This area includes popular streets such as Fumin Lu and Julu Lu, and it’s a mecca of restaurants, cafes, and bars. There are also a number of small foreign goods shops scattered throughout the area.

The famous Buddhist Jing’an Temple lies in the geographic center of Shanghai’s most central districts. The surrounding area is packed full of dining and shopping options, including the Shangri-La, Portman-Ritz Carlton, the Kerry Center, the JiuGuang Department store, and the Shanghai Centre. Three large foreign goods supermarkets, including City Shop, can be found here.
